Fans – I know it has been almost four months since my last entry. I am sorry for the delay, but things have been so crazy. It is hard to believe we are already halfway through with 2005. The season has not been what we hoped for, but our performances continue to improve. I am really excited about the upcoming races. Life at the shop is hectic. We are busy building trucks for the second half of the season. This week we are going to Memphis. I love racing close to home. Bobby is the defending champion so let’s hope a BHR Dodge can end up in victory lane on Saturday night. Be sure to come out and support us if you are in the area. I wanted to say thanks to all of you who called or e-mailed after the wreck at Texas. That was the hardest hit of my life. I had to go to the hospital for a concussion, but everything was fine. Let’s hope we don’t have to do that again. I have got to go to some media stuff now. Keep pulling for BHR in 2005. See you at the track! Chase
March 2005 Hey Everyone! Sorry I have not written before now, but things have been pretty busy. The last two races have not been what we are looking for. I am confident our luck is about to change. Atlanta was a good race because the No. 18 Team learned a lot. We may not have hit the perfect set up this time, but we will have it when we return in the fall. Thanks for all the fan e-mails and encouragement on the NASCAR message board. I enjoy reading them all and it really helps keep our spirits up. I am busy this week with testing at Martinsville. I hope all of you have a wonderful Easter Holiday. See you at the track! Chase
February 2005 Hello everyone! I am so glad to be back racing. I enjoyed the off season, but was starting to get bored. This is my first journal entry of the season. It is something new we are going to do for the website. I would like to do one after every race, but can’t guarantee anything. I hope it gives you an inside look at the 18 team. We are about to leave for California in a few, but before I go lets look back at Daytona. I must admit I was disappointed with our finish. The guys had given me a rocket ship! Our plan was to hang around the back until it was about 20 to go. I felt a vibration around the halfway mark and was forced to pit. The cause of the vibration was a blistered tire. The caution came out while I was sitting on pit road so when we restarted I lined up second. Guys, when you are in second place with 50 laps to go it’s hard to go to the back and just ride around. It got crazy up front and before I know it we are crashing in turn four. We were running three wide with lap traffic and that is what got us. The 15 got turned and the rest was history. It happened so fast I didn’t have time to react. I remember hearing Jerry (my spotter) say “hang onto it buddy” and the rest was history. I am pumped about the 2005 season. The 18 team are proven winners and ready to win again. It is a lot of fun driving for them and I think it is going to be a season to remember. I didn’t do much outside of racing at Daytona. I did several sponsor appearances for Dodge. On Friday morning I went to Dodge City and we had a chance to check out the new Dodge Charger. It is awesome. Everyone had a chance to vote for the color we want Dodge to bring back for the Charger - I voted for Hemi Orange. We head to California this week to hit the track again. These past two weeks have flown by. California is a great track. It offers multiple racing grooves that allow us to really beat and bang out during the race. I am looking forward to scoring our first top five of the season. I will try to check in after I get back from California. Make sure you check out the race Friday night. Chase
